Dr Dental – Dental Insurance and Maximum Limitation
What is a Maximum Limitation?
The maximum limitation or coverage limit is the highest amount of money an insurance company will pay for dental services within a specific period. For example, suppose you have a dental insurance plan with a $1,000 maximum coverage limit. In that case, the insurance company will only pay up to that amount in a given year for your dental treatment. You must pay out of pocket for any expenses beyond that limit.
Consider the maximum coverage allowed when buying a Dental PPO or Indemnity insurance plan. A comprehensive plan should have at least a $1,000 maximum coverage, but the average range is between $1,000 – $2,000. A major dental procedure can cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars, and you can quickly max out your insurance in one trip. When comparing different dental insurance plans, compare the coverage limits. Higher limits usually require higher premiums but may be worth it for multiple dental procedures.
